Partition Magic 8 and XP

I have installed XP on FAT32 and then I compressed on NTFS by Partition Magic 8....all OK but it create 4 KB allocation unit.

Then I try resize allocation unit on 512 Byte, and PM8 MADE ERROR DURING THE PROCESS and I lost some data.

I used NTFS PRO to check my HDD and It repair it, but some data I have lost....

Have U ever got some problem with PM8?

Hi Odar,

I had some problems with PM8 on XP too. I didn't lose any data, but it couldn't resize partitions (enlarge one and shrink another) and it claims it can do that. It said something about script error (after reboot). On the other hand, it changed sucessfully the cluster size on one partition, but afterwards that drive reports some (very few) bad sectors!

So I'd say it's not 100% safe...

first try to shrink only;
after it's done, go ahead and try to enlarge the other partition;

So I'd say it's not 100% safe...

I know, that making with PM is not safe, but PM7 worked good.
