hello
on my friends VAIO laptop he has his 40gb hdd partioned into two 20gb partions. He wants to deletec his secound partion then make it back again to 10gb instead of 20gb so he has 30gb on his main system partion or is there a way of altering partion size. Thanks

i have that on a self made compilation disk with other my other useful programs :)

glad you sorted it mate :)

Partition Magic works for plain windows systems (for mixed windows/unix systems it is simply dangerous!), but it ain't cheap- you can also use free software:
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/
It works just fine for resizing NTFS partitions, and its UI is quite simple and comprehensive. Just get the liveCD, it boots fine in most systems.
Another fine free tool is a Mandriva/ PCLinuxOS liveCD, and its exhellent "DiskDrake" partition manager.
