Panasonic LF-311SC users please help

Hi, I am new to dvd writing, having just bought the above model off a friend for £70. Please can you tell me a) which is the best software to use to copy dvd movies, b) how compatible the dvd copies will be with home players, c) What is to be gained by flashing the firmware ( version A126 installed ), and D) how do you get around the region lock. Also anything else you can tell me about this writer would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Oh, one more question, are the LF-311 and LF-311SC the same model? Mine has SC as the name on the sticker on the drive, but in device manager the SC is missing.

Please Have A look at the tutorials in this forum Most of your questions will be answered

As for your burner no idea try downloading the latest firmware & see what that does.

Hi bud! It's the same drive, the SC prefix means it's OEM.

For Dvd-5 (single layer movies)use DVDXcopy, simple to use,and good results. For Dvd-9(dual layer) you can use DvD2one or Instant Copy 7 to reencode the movie to fit on one dvd-r.All softs are discussed in this forum.

You will need Dvddecryptor to rip the movies before using the other software.

One last thing, your Panasonic will not write to Dvdrw,so don't bother.;)

The only downside to this drive is it can only write at 1X, the upside is that it is not only writes to DVD-R but also DVD-RAM.
I have this model and I have used DXC, ifoedit, dvd2one, burned with Nero with good success. The only problem that I've encountered is with some dodgy Bulpaq media, the latest batch though has been faultless. Finally A128 is the latest firmware, download here.
