Palm introduces wireless HotSync and distribution (GEEK .com)

PalmSource has announced two separate partnerships in attempts to make wireless connections a hot commodity for Palm owners. Partnering with Qualcomm, PalmSource hopes to make wireless software distribution possible. One of the cooler features of the Palm OS has always been the extent to which IrDA "beaming" was applied. It's always cool to beam a new game or application to a buddy and let him try it out. With this setup from PalmSource and Qualcomm you could install software from anywhere within your wireless coverage area. Hear about a cool app? Use your Tungsten W, or your Palm device connected to a 2.5G or 3G mobile phone, to download the app. In a partnership with Spontaneous, PalmSource hopes to make wireless HotSyncing possible. Since the connection would work invisibly with HotSync, any HotSync conduit would remain compatible.
