optorite dvd DD0203

I'm new to this game I have the an optorite dvd dd0203 re writer I have nero version 5.510.54 installed, I have films on my computer that I want to convert into a dvd, each time I attempt to burn I see this message, " DVD Video. Nero needs compatible Vob, Ifo and Bup files to create the dvd"
can some help me and tell me how I get these and What I do with them and make it as simple as you can, Im pulling my hair out here I just want to watch my films on my TV.

Nero itself requires the purchase of a plugin to encode MPEG2 (DVD) - and the quality from the plugin is NOT highly regarded. You may also find the Nerovision Express part more appropriate to the task. Without encoding available, the files must be presented to Nero, already in DVD compatible format.

If you purchased a RETAIL Nero 5.5 during the qualifying period - since May 2003, I believe, then you should be able to get a free upgrade to Nero 6, which may include the plugin.
