Opinions: Is Nero bad for DVD-R burning?

I've read a few negative posts here about Nero's DVD-R engine. Can somebody confirm this?

Been using it exclusively for all DVDs with Pioneer 104 and 105 drives. Just gotta know how to use it, and it works on PCs and stand-alone players...

Never had a problem with Nero!

The big problem with Nero is that you cannot make general statements about it.
One version will work and then the next may not.
Ahead tinker and mess about with Nero that much it is unwise to upgrade? a working version.
Personally I have given it up for dvd-r burning as I cannot afford the coasters.
But as stated above many people use it succesfully.
Just try it. Remember to try it on several standalones.
I have some versions that will work on one player yet not on another, which sux.
