I really don't think that psx_paul is saying that all Americans are strange, just some of us... esp. this guy! 
The caption "Only in America" was probably written by an American in a US based paper anyway. It's a phrase that I all too often hear from news broadcasts to David Letterman. I'm sure the "Brits" have a similar phrase for their own.
