nvidia ide sw drivers....

when i use nvidia's latest chipset driver the 6.86 version, it doesnt update the pata controller at all but all the sata controllers are updated to version 5.10.2600.666. i tried updating it manually using the legacy, sata_ide, and sataraid folders still wont update just says it cannot find a better version or something. why is it not letting me update my pata controller?. can anyone help me on this please thanks.

First question is, what is the problem that you are having that makes you feel that you need to upgrade the driver?

well just to update my driver thats all. maybe it'll boost my performance a little bit?.

Are you sure the package contains an updated driver for that component, it may simply not be updated in this release.
