NTI CD maker and FileCD under XP Pro

I installed NTI CD maker (file taken from this site) under XP Pro in order to use FileCD as FileCD was not available alone. Nowhere can I access FileCD and even looking at the install directory can I see FileCD.exe. Is FileCD missing from this distribution? FOSI also offers the same file and, looking at the contents' sizes, was able to say they are identical.

The reason for wanting NTI FileCD is mainly that I know it works under XP and also that it writes in 9660 ISO format thereby negating the need for a UDF reader when wanting to access the CD-RW CD. It makes it real handy when restoring backups under DOS.

Thanks for responding! I downloaded FileCD from Dividezero dl and found it did not work with my drive (AOpen 241040) under Win XP Pro. I guess I'l wait until the latest version comes out as I know the demo of 2 from NTI works fine.

There is also the possibility other sw mfgrs take the example from NTI and also start making packet writing in ISO format which would be nice...

Yes, NTI has not updated the old fileCD version since summer.
The NTI FileCD demo available is version 2.0.10 with a file date of 2001-10-05. There is an update available on NTI site for it that would bring FileCD to version 2.0.15 with files dated 2001-12-14.

The update cannot be applied on the demo version.

Actually the update can be used as a fullversion 2.0.15 (!) without too much difficulties! I have described the "how-to" in another post here, all you need is one unpacker for package for the web and one second for Installshield 5.5 cabinet files... the rest is easy.
Could you repost or direct me to it?

I can say I tried to do what you describe by myself. I'm rather new to Windows and my expertise is more in OS/2. I tried to extract the files from the data1, _sys1 and _user1 CABinet files first with WinRAR, then with filepro and another one I erased since but can't get to the files within those cab files... WinRAR is version 2.80 beta 5, FilePro was version 1.54 and have no idea what other unarchiver to use on it. I even searched with Copernic to see if I could get something else and am at a loss here.

Thanks a million! I did find the thread where you gave instructions and did follow it but made one mistake in taking i6comp which seemed more recent but was NOT able to unarchive the cabinet files. I went back and got i5comp and decompressed them and installed the whole thing in the FileCD directory. It has one newer file, Cdrw32.bdb and also needs to be in the FileCD installed directory. Now all is well or seems to be. I started the program but have yet to write anything but am confident it should work... :D

Thanks again for your help. Without knowing about the install shield unpacker (i5comp), I would still be stumped!
