not as easy as it looks

I have held off as long as possible hoping to resolve all of my own issues...but the time has come, I need help.

I have installed all the proper drivers and software ( xvid, divx3, divx5, tempgenc)

There are 17 mpg files on my hard drive of those tempgenc will only allow me to convert 1. It has started encoding on 4 files with the final result as an error and no mpg file. When i look at the mpg file properties the audio is mpeg3. why?

The one file that did convert, I cut then put into nero and it wasnt good enough. nero spent an hour coverting it to an acceptable format. then burnt it.

Could some one also explain to me the difference between Full Screen 4:3, 16:9 or widescreen 2.3:1.

Thats it for now...hoping some will help me out. thanks.

If Nero has to re-encode the files for you it means you did not make a proper MPG/MPEG file. I suggest you have a look at the tutorials section and follow them to a "T" and everything will be answered and come out perfect. If not, people here will help out with some setting or something.
I don't want to go through explaining the tuts over (as the great ChickenMan has already spent the time to write them), but tmpgenc has templates built in for you to use (so pretty hard for you to screw up).
I don't know what it is you want to do with the MPG files on your HDD, because re-encoding is not a good thing, but if they aren't compliant MPG files, then there is the root of your problems.

PS
I am pressuming you want to make VCDs/SVCDs out of the mpg/mpeg files.
