Norton Ghost 2002 or Drive Image Pro 2002

Have anyone any experience with both software for backup images of hardrive? Which is better in term of use.

During the backup of harddisk with Win2K and other programs installed, Ghost was unable to close the burning of disk 2, thus the backup process was unable to continue with disk 3. Buring of disk 1 was OK but not disk 2 and the backup process came to a halt.

Anyone can help.

Drive image does it for me, never had any problems with it, unlike norton which seems to f**k up my system:)

The above problem can happen if you don't use 650 MB disks, but ones of larger capacity. Drive Image is notorious for the poor quality of its burns too, so the safest solution is storing a spanned set to harddisk first and then copying it to CDR (verification applied).
Besides those two check Acronis True Image, Paragon Partition Backup and Novastor Instant Recovery- all of them good software. IMHO Novastor is the only one of them which can make 100% reliable DIRECT backup to CDR, but also the clumsiest and slowest to use. Your choice.
By the way you can get demos for the Novastor, Paragon and Acronis stuff so you can see if they fill your needs. Ghost and Drive Backup do not have a demo.

It´s a matter of taste.

All three will do it.

Drive Image
Norton Ghost
Acronis True Image

I prefer Drive Image and Scarecrow Acronis :)

Now a days it is hard to find 650 MB cdr media. About the storing the image file to a second harddisk and burn the file to a cdr later, how do you go about doing it so that it can be ghost back.

Thanks

As everyone said, they all are good and a matter of taste. Personally, I use DriveImage - boot from a boot CD and save the image compressed at 50% to a HD partition, boot back to WinXP when done, burn to CD-RW or DVD-RW's and make the first CD/DVD bootable with DI on it to restore directly from.
