no sound on svcd

hi everyone

i am using nero to encode my svcd's wen it has finished encoding and it has burned the svcd i play it back on my dvd player and the picture is perfect as you would a svcd to be but there is no sound can anyone tell me why this may be :(

Hi!

Personaly i never use nero for encoding, but first thing i would
suggest is check the burned svcd on you computer to verify that there actualy is no sound in the stream ?!

It could be a compatibility problem otherwise

Greetnx

when i play the svcd the sound comes on for about 2 seconds and then goes off all the way through the film i have got all the plugins and the svcd codec what should i use to encode the video?

i will have a look at tmpgenc i think i tried it a long time ago but never really knew how to use it but i am a bit more wiser now but this is my first svcd i have done always done them on vcd

hiw long does it normally take to encode the video and after i have encoded it do i just drag and drop it with nero and then burn

It takes about 90 mins for me to encode a CBR SVCD, or about 180 mins for a VBR (Athlon XP 1800+, 7200RPM 8MB Buffer Raid 0). YMMV.

As for burning... yes, after the encode is complete, do this:

1) Start Nero
2) Pick SVCD as the project type (you need the plug in)
3) Drag your MPEG to the window
4) Burn

Good luck!

hi again
i have encoded the svcd with tmpgecnc and burned it with nero but the sound comes on and then it goes off

i tried to play the copy on my computer and it said error but my dvd player is a mustek it plays everything i have got other svcd and they play on it

I suggest you stick to using Nero for burning, not encoding. The quality it produces really suc's.

I assume you are able to play the AVI on your PC with no audio problems? Can you run GSPOT on the avi to check the codec used for both the video and the audio and report them here.

TMPGenc is good, CCE is way better for both quality and speed. Simple to use, just have a read of the tutorial at http://www.cdrbase.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15298

U watch the final encoded SVCD disk with WinDVD 4.5 ?

defenatly have to agree with ChickenMan!

TMPGenc is fairly good, but best SVCD Quality can be achived with
CCE.

But since you now have tried encoding with TMPGEnc, and still have the same problem i begin to wonder if the sound on your source file is proper in the 1st case, have you checked the source if its o.k. yet ?!?

Besides, there are a few restrictions to the SVCD Standard concerning BitRates, maybe your standalone plays SVCD but not XSVCD, so make sure to total encoded BitRate is proper!
