News flash..LiteOn 40x CD-RW Burner

:D :D :D LiteOn will introduce soon a new CD-RW with the codename "LTR-40125S". The drive supports 40x writing, 12x re-writing and 48x reading speeds. Its internal buffer is 2MB and supports "Smart-Burn", "Smart-X" technologies and "Mt. Rainier" format. The drive uses Zone-CLV as the main recording technology.
In order to achieve the 40x writing speed, 4 zones are being used: 20x -> 24x -> 32x -> 40x. The drive is expected to burn a full 84min CD at 3:16minutes. No information about the drive's price or shipping date is yet known.

A tit for a tat, a counter act for the 40x Plextor RW no doubt. Good, I don't have to spend too much to get the plextor, if the feature/functions of the new Lite-On is in everyway compatible to its brothers.

I have just orderd the LiteOn 40x....any good?...does it do SD2.51?

Cus me Plex 24x and 40x don't doe SD2.51......


I need to know so I can change it to the LiteON 32x......

Just picked mine up today My Dealer has them for $140.00 US
Just waiting for the newest Firm ware that was talked about over at CDfreaks. Lite-on already has 1 new update, but there is still another 1 they are working on. I will give a try with Clone4 beta21 this weekend and let ya know.

Oh it works a treat in Clone V4 alright! :D

We forget how far burners have come in only a year or so. I've still got my 24102b as well as the 40125S in my system, both great drives.

I burned some discs the other day in my other system which has my old 16X Plex in it. I could not believe how long it took to burn a full CDR alongside the 40X Litey. But when that Plex came out it sure was the biz! :cool: Wow, I remember throwing so many CDR's away with my old 8X drive. And discs cost a hell of a lot more then too. :eek:

I have had one for 3 weeks now...Love it, love it, love it!

I used to be a Plex devotee (still own a Plex8432). But this new drive made me change my mind!

if you go to newegg.com, they have the lite on for 100 US.

The lite on makes it easier to rip audio from protected CD's, but you still need something like EAC or daemon tools - but you can't even play the damn things on the Plextor.
