Pioneer DVR 810 HS record times/rates

I have a new Pioneer Tivo Pioneer DVD Burner and a question about recording lenths vs quality. This Pioneer burns at 4X directly from Tivo digitally. There are 4 possible "quality Levels" that Tivo records at. Basic (EP) = 6hr DVD; Medium (LP) = 4hr DVD High (SP) = 2hr DVD; and a new level called Extreme (Fine) = 1hr DVD

My question is: Is the 1hr setting going to be that much better that its worth splitting up almost every recording onto two or more disc's? (considering the source...Directv reciver)

Also what can you tell me about this Extreme setting?
