new hard drive doesnt fit

just got a second hard drive & it doesnt fit in under the old one.

what do i need? a new tower case??

I myself have 3 seperate hard drives in my computer. I now have enough room to mount them all correctly but previous to a tower upgrade I had a mini tower, the thing was tiny. I build a bracket to house the 2nd hard drive but when it came to the 3rd, I just used that sticky velcro stuff to hold it in place on the bottom of the tower. As I'm not in the habbit of picking up my tower and giving it a damn good shake on a regular basis, the hard drive doesn't move about and it's a good solution.

I carefully measured and marked my base, drilled through and picked up three of the screw holes in the hard drive.

In a perfect world it would have been four but my marking didn't measure up........? geddit ?

Works a treat.

yeah i fixed the base/bay whatever its called. i drilled some holes at it.

im on the new drive now.
im going to format the old drive. do i need to reinstall windows on the old drive??

Depends what U use it for >> I have a second drive for documents only (no operating system) in effect a 40 gig CDRW.

U can install an operating system (I presume U have one on the new drive) to make a dual boot system but otherwise just format it & it will take programmes data etc.

Take care of the new drive ventilation, else you may be forced to take it back from its bay way sooner than you expected.

that a damn fine idea .. I keep that in mind when I run outta space to mount HD's .. heh I see ppl use Blue tak .. lol it worked but wouldn't suggest it specailly HD's generate alot heat and blue tak get all gooy ..

Cheers X-BoNeS-X......

it's a good solution. Yeah not perfect but does the job.

Blue Tag....hhmmmmm......LOL. Agree with the gooey comment.

@ scarecrow....yeah, he might have to get one of those little hard drive coolers that bolt to the top of the hard drive and blow air over it. They work very well and aren't too expensive.
