Clone CD

I tried going in to the registry and changing the "one and only" Amplifyweak that I found and it changed it ok. When I checked the taskbar icon it showed the Hide CDR Media just fine. When I went into Clone it had the AmplifyWeak box greyed out (although it checkmarked it in the Protcd mode) but it was still greyed out. I went ahead and changed my settings to that of Canada (English) with my same time zone and uninstalled and reinstalled CloneCD and it has been working great ever since. The AmplifyWeak box is no longer greyed out. Now after all of that, can anyone tell me what these 2 items will actually do? I have the Plextor 16/10/40a IDE CD-RW and according to the CloneCD site, it is supposed to only read in the RAW mode and write in the RAW-DAO 96. To risk the fear of sounding stupid, does that mean it will write the subchannel as long as the file I use already has it in it, but it can't read it to make the subchannel if I use the Plextor to read it? (Arghhhhhhhhhhhh! Now I'm getting confused! ) I use Fantom CD so it doesn't matter a whole lot on the recording of it since I will be using the images on Virtual CDs anyway. But I would like to be able to read the subchannel on my backups if I can. Thanks for listening to the ramblin' ons of an old fogey new at this stuff. Any help and information would be greatly welcomed.
