Networking and ZoneAlarm

After looking around, I guess this is where I ask my question?

I have a networked computer and run ZoneAlarm on the computer that is connected to the Net.

The problem I have is: On my second computer (not the one with ZoneAlarm), when I use IE to access the internet, all I am able to access is my ISP home page. If, for example, I want to look at the forum here, when I put the URL in, ZoneAlarm on the other computer blocks it.

How do I configure ZoneAlarm so that I can use my second computer just like a normal one?

I have tried doing what the manual says to, but still can't get it to work.

I have emailed the ZoneAlarm people, but they don't seem to want to answer my question.

Does someone know what to do? I don't want to disable ZoneAlarm, as it is more than an asset to me.

TIA

PS.........boy!, it sure has changed in here a bit, compared to the earlier days. Great to see N.B and Woody are still here :)

I don't think this is the answer you are looking for but it is an approach.

I had a computer serving as the source for a three computer telephone wire network and never did figure out how to use Zone Alarm on it. So I had left it exposed and used Zone Alarm on the end computers.

Now I installed a router/switch instead of using the computer and it has a hardware firewall and NAT. Then I install Zone Alarm on the user machines which gives me an additional measure of protection and protects me from programs calling out that I don't want doing that.

This configuration works well but it does require purchasing a router/switch (they have come way down in price).

if you follow the guide when installing zone alarm and set the computer that you are installing zone alarm on as ics server and the other system as an ics client and enter the other systems ip address 192.168.x.x or whatever you allocated that system as all should go well when you connect to the net and access the net via the other system zone alarm will report this with that systems activity with its ip adress just tick the box and allow it access with yes and all should be fine from then on :)

Thanks guys for your responses.

Viper, i'll re-install ZoneAlarm and set it as you have suggested, i'll report back on my success, which ever way it goes.

Of all the forums that I frequent, this is the only one that gives out good, simple to follow advice.

Thankyou!

just an additional here had the very same problem yet again re installing it today ! lol :) you need to click on firewall then on main then on advanced in the tabs in the options in zone alarm and configure it as an ics/nat gateway and enter the number that you allocated your lan/nic card address as i stated above 192.168.x..x or whatever you chose to set it as on installation :)
