Nero offers now a free (...almost) Linux version of their burning API for linux users. You need to have registered Nero 6 reloaded to get this one.

Compared to the standard Linux mastering and burning application (K3B) this is a huge pile of crap... but this is is sort-of-free and may get better at some time.

Hmmm, its image recorder either doesn't work at all, or the .nrg images it makes don't comply to the windoze .nrg format.
Bootable CD's, which are missing from K3B are a nice addition, but audioCD burning is limited (few CD-Text fields, no pregap setting, no mixed mode/CD Extra yet).
Add to all that the darn ugly GTK GUI (not even GTK2, probably for backward compatibility) compared to K3B's Trolltech qutie, and...
By the way K3B 0.11.21 was released just today, and it's gorgeous.
* Little fix in capabilities detection (only affects buggy firmwares)
* Properly detect the Philips 2600
* Made multisession selection in DVD project visible.
* Fixed crash when importing session failed.
* Fixed compilation with flac 1.1.2 (using a quite simple autoconf check which should work in most situations.)
