I was wondering if anybody can tell me, why Nero can't do any simulation test burns, when I attempt to add data on a DVD+R disk...the simulation test button is "greyed out"

zat's may be becoz r drive doesn't support simluation ...does ur version of nero fully support ur drive & wat's the brand of ur dvd burner? ;)

to enable "Simulation" - disable "Buffer Underun Protection"

Nero > Menu > Recorder > Choose Recorder > Your Recorder > Options > disable Buffer Underun Protection

I'm assuming that means unchecking the "just link" that I have in Nero 5.5.10.20
Anyways, did that, and simulation still is greyed out. Got a digital reasearch rewriter using DVD+R meida. Also updated all my aspi drivers...still with no effect.
Got no problems simulating regular 700 mb cd's....just that it don't work with DVD+R media. Nero user's manual says you can simulate DVD disks...so I don't know what or where else I can tweak there.

I can't get that either on .50, but:

Simulation

The simulation runs all the steps involved in burning a medium apart from activating the laser beam, so that you can assume that if the simulation is successful, the burning process will also be successful.

We recommending running a simulation if you are decompressing data before burning, e.g. when burning an audio CD from MP3 files. To play MP3 files on a CD player, the files have to be converted to the corresponding format (CDA). In Nero, this decompression takes place during the burning process. It takes up computer time, which can result in a buffer underrun on older systems. Pentium 3 systems or higher can decompress data and burn at high speeds simultaneously.

Note: You do not need to run simulations if you are using a recorder with buffer underrun protection.

In other words, if I have buffer overun protection,I still will have a good DVD data disk afterwards...less some data, correct? I bring this up,cuz many of you know that even a DVD disk that says its 4.7 gig,in reality you can only burn 4.3 or less. The last thing I just wanted to mention for curiosity sakes,is to post my digital research DVD drive driver file details, and see if anyone out there can notice something that may be out of whack.

The Driver File Details for _NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A are as follows:
ASAPIW2K.sys Provider(VOB Computersysteme GmbH version 6,0,01
Cdrdv.sys
cdrom.sys (digitaly signed)
drvmcdb.sys (VERITAS Software)
imapi.sys (digitaly signed)
MxlW2k.sys (MusicMatch)
NTIDrvr.sys (NewTech Infosystems)
pfc.sys (Padus, Inc)
redbook.sys (digitaly signed)
storprop.dll (digitaly signed)

VOB, NTI, Padus, Veritas, Musicmatch (That driver is Roxio in disguise) and XP native Imapi are imho too many to leave in peace together... remove or disable any unwanted. Imapi is a very good start.
