Nero upgrade to 5.5.8.0

I want my original Nero (get it with my Plextor writer), version 5.5.3.5 upgraden to 5.5.8.0. When I have done this and I want to burn something, it crashed by 4 %, the hole system crashed, only a reset helpes.
The upgrade version 5.5.7.2 works fine, but 5.5.7.8 and 5.5.8.0 don't work.
My OS is Windows XP Pro Dutch version.
Can anybody help me how can I run version 5.5.8.0 ?

or try this:

take a look in Registry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\Info]
or
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\Info]

there must be a Serial-Entry: "Serial5"="xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx"
write the Serial down to paper, it's the Serial for Plextors OEM-Version

uninstall Nero complete > reboot > install 5.580 > reboot > start Nero > help > enter serial

Sorry, that doesn 't work at me. It game with the same error, it stocks at 4 % burning.

Do You have a nother suggestion?

hmm,

I think it's a problem between your system or burner and the newer versions of Nero.

Had you disabled the XP-Burningengine (i'm not an expert in XP, i use Win2000)? Had you installed other burning- , grabbingstuff or SoftDVD-Players between you change Nero-Version. Maybe this can be guilty.

Take a look in the Helptool at Aheads Downloadpage. You should also use the latest drivers for your IDE-Controller, they are a part of the Chipsetdrivers (e.g. VIA4in1 for VIA-Chipsets).

You have paid for Nero (buying the Plextor) you can use Aheads support. The meaning about Aheads support is good. Send a mail to support@nero.c?m. (? is o)

Well, I have now a working Nero 5.5.7.2 .

A clean version of Nero 5.5.8.0 with a crack, give the same error as a upgrade from OEM 5.5.3.5 to 5.5.8.0.
At 4% he crashed.

The version 5.5.7.2 works fine. But I want to run the version 5.5.8.0 .
And I have mailed to Ahead.de. Now I hope to get a answer from them to.

Any particular reason you want 5.5.8.0?
If not and 5.5.7.2 works why change?
I'm sure there will be a new version out soon (not express).
For me 5.5.7.2 crashed all the time and 5.5.8.0 is stable!
The guys at ahead will get back to you but it might take a while.
They helped me a few months ago before I found this forum.:)

ist surely it's a problem of his system or Aheads problem

I have e-mailed Ahead , I get an automaticle mail back, to look at the helptool.html , I have done that, but my error wasn't there. So I send a nother mail to Ahead, and I have not a answer back from Ahead. So, does I am waiting.

I have the plex software and up graded to the latest nero...no problems...using XP pro with the XP burning option on....what is your sys spec bud?

PII 400MHz- 512 MB- WindowsXP Pro- Plextor 8/4/32 IDE- Asus P2B.

So as I said Nero version 5.5.7.2 works fine, but I can't upgrade it to 5.5.8.0. The software will install, but at 4 % it crashed, the hole system crashed, only a reset can fix it.

Well, I have now a working Nero 5.5.8.2 version. I have no answer yet from Ahead. But I have put my Secundair IDE-channel in PIO- modus. And everything is working fine.
But I don't understand why? Till version 5.5.7.2 Nero works fine in DMA-modus.
Does somebody know why?
