Nero MP3 Conversion Flaws

"Nero is a CD burning program (like Easy CD Creator, Winon CD etc.) which will accept mp3 files directly in its audio CD Tracklist. There's no need to decode to .wav first, because Nero will decode mp3s "on-the-fly" as it writes them to disc. This makes putting your mp3 files onto audio CD a 1 step process (see the FAQ entry about putting mp3s onto CD for the pros and cons of this).

Unfortunately, Nero has two or three slight problems in its mp3 decoder. Firstly, the decoder always clips the end off mp3 files, though only by a tiny amount (around 10 samples). Secondly, it often shows slight discrepancies from the reference decoders at frequencies around 12-16kHz on real music signals. Finally, it bandlimits all mp3s at 21kHz. Some mp3 files have information above this frequency (up to 22.05kHz in fact). These last two problems are probably inaudible, but it's a shame that such a simple-to-use piece of software makes these mistakes, so failing to earn a recommendation."

Has Nero fixed this problem?

nero no no

I like nero , but its mp3 encoder is not very good.
In fact the mp3pro setting is total crap.
If u want accurate mp3 encoding use EAC.
If your stereo is not that hot then nero with mp3pro disabled is fine as you wont hear the difference anyway!

Also read the rules.
No direct links allowed.
Use w*w or similar.;)

I am not worrying about mp3 encoding. I use Nero for MP3 decoding and burning. Appearantly, most on-the-fly-mp3- decoding cd burning software has the clipping problem.

Decoding & burning

Yep I use it most of the time too, unless someone asks me to use something else.
The truth is 90% of people cant tell the difference.
The people with top drawer systems can tell more easily but if theyre bothered they just go out and buy retail.
Media can make a bigger difference but thats often down to individual hi fi.

Retail?

There is a difference between retail and shareware version of Nero? I have a retail version of Nero which only works on Win9X. Hence, I am using the shareware version of Nero on WinXP. I don't know the sound degradation matters to me or not since I have logitech Z560, which produces very clear sound, and my home stereo system is in $800-$1000 range.

pokopiko

video cd burning

Thanks in advance.

The trouble with EAC/lame is its very slow.
I havent always got time when I'm compiling 10 disc mp3cds.
I know the quality is higher but most people dont give a damn.
They just want their stuff yesterday.

If u know a way of speeding things up I'd be glad to hear it.
:)

Yanon , when I said retail I meant retail commecial cds(originals)

Also, Lame is a non-ISO compliant mp3 codec. I am using Blade Enc. Blade Enc is faster than Lame and it's supported in EAC, but it has one disadvantage. It doesn't do decoding. I know Winamp has a built-in mp3 decoder. I wonder which codec it uses.

Hey yanon !
Go on w*w.acoustica.com and download MP3 to Wav Converter Plus. You can find s/n on astalavista.
Nice program for encoding/decoding.
All functions is on right click.
Try !

please tell me where i can get nero mp3 pro encoder. I also downloaded mp3 to wav converter plus and i went to astalavista for the s/n but they don't have it. does anyone have it?

The sound is bad, the quality is poor.... sniff I have lost a CD for nothing....
I tried to have audiograbber, but the version I've downloaded, like Acdsee, is a version which don't want my keygen... I can't register... help...
