nero cddb options?

is it possible to have nero lookup cd info in the cdplayer.ini file that other programs in windows use instead of on the web. its a pain to have to get online with a dialup just so nero (5.5.7.2) can figure out what cd i put in when all my cd player programs know and keep the data in c:\window\cdplayer.ini

Yes it is.You can have for all audioproggys 1 database;put audiocd in rom,run nero;for example copy cd,will start cddb, will give you list of possiblle cds, choose one of possible matches if its more or right match, and nero will ask you if you want to make database, choose folder, done!!!!:)

not quite what i was looking for

you didnt get what i was asking. i know nero can create its own database for cd info. but this is redundant as i already have one called cdplayer.ini in the windows directory. i was hoping to get nero to read this one, not make its own. i already have much info in the cdplayer.ini file that i dont want to always have to get online so that nero can update when its already here. its just that nero doesnt seem to be able to read it and also for some reason some of my cds report no info found with nero when my cdplayer knows what it is. hopefully this makes it more clear what i am aiming at

Youre right bud(didnt read carefully>sorry). If this can help you maybe;I got feurio, eac, nero and real player one on same system. All cddb database is in feurio folder, and all appz giving me good match, including nero.So if he can read info from feurio folder, why wouldnt from system folder??Please postit when you find out.......

this is what i know

from the little research i have completed here is what i have found out. nero accesses freedb while my ati player and a lot of others access cddb. these are two completely different data bases which is why some of my cds only show up in one or the other (i have a collection of obscure european purchased techno) cddb was recently purchase by some company, name not important and can be found easily if anyone cares, that now wants to use the cddb database for profit if it can just find a way so there is some litigation and because of this some companies such as nero dont want to be involved in it so they access freedb which truely is free. what pisses me off is that most of cddb was imput by users like you and me just as freedb is. so i guess nero may have been setup in some way to not be able to access the files which were gotten through the use of cddb (my cdplayer.ini file for example). i dont know this last statement to be true, it is only what i have surmised.:(

You could be right, but its maybe. But now atleast you knew that nero can use database>>just have to be freedb>>its as good as cddb>>using it with feurio for last 3 months(eac too)and all inquires cd were matched 100%:)

which one then?

i still have my copy of nero 5.0.4.4 from when i ran win me. should i go back to that or is there a "most stable" version you would suggest?
