A better question is do you have a dvd player prog like WinDVD or an mpeg2 decoder installed? Would be the most likely cause other than a bad burn.

So, you mean that if you have WinDVD installed you can copy a movie DVD using Nero?

I am pretty new to DVD world as I have bought myself a SONY DRU-500AX when it just got released but to find out that my old system was too slow for it so I never installed it til a week ago on my new built system.

And to me it's no different than regular CD or any other hardware and software. Example, if you want WinDVD to treat the DVD as DVD then you will need to burn it as DVD the way WinDVD can understand.

I never burned any DIVX format yet to know how it works, or differernt than MPEG format, but I have tried couple MPEG-1 files as DVD and they work great. Since I didn't change the audio from 44mhz to 48mhz (or whatever it is) so I can't burn as regular DVD whatever formar *but* NERO has option to burn as DVD (UDF-###) so I gave it a try and my stand alone DVD player can play it just fine.

IOW, if you burned the DIVX as DATA and *if* WinDVD or any player you have can read the DIVX format then you will have to load it just like the way you load it from HARD DRIVE. Or you can't expect the DVD player to treat it as regular playable DVD disc when it isn't.

Try this one: Do NOT burn the file, just use the Nero virtual burner (select recorder etc) to make an .nrg image. Then, try to mount this image in Nerodrive. If you can see the contents of the virtual drive, then something is wrong with your media. Else, it can be one thing or two...

hi i was using "dvd iso" to put my data on disk thats haw iv allways done cd-r, so i just tried doing it on "dvd udf/iso" and it worked fine a bit slow finalising , :)

Have the same kind of problems with that drive. Made in February,OEM (by the way in general terms OEM means "we told you you were buying it your own risk, dumb, so ask us if we care!") Also reported by Bios, Windows and DVDinfo

http://www.nicsoft.com.au/dvdinfo.html) as

_NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A with 1A0 firmware.
Such a lone star of a DVD recorder.
Have not tried any DVD+R because I have not got one in my hands. But if you're as curious as I am, you will notice that Nero,
in DVD mode in this drive, only reports 1X ans 2X, no matter what speed is your media. Really weird in a drive that promised
4X. Well, you can't be surprised: remember it also promised both DVD-R and DVD+R? What really bother me is: it now fails to
make a Nero or DiscJuggler CD compilation. In a fresh Windows XP installation. In Nero, it stops in 4% or 5% of the cache
writing, at least it does not mess up the blank cd-r. Disc Juggler really does, because it stops in 4% ofwriting. Nti-CD
maker does not recognizes it as a writer (the NTI website says it works! Well, we'd admit we bought it for its wonderful low
price, because for the bells and whistles you have HP and Plextor, based exactly on this one. Now I've learned what really
means to pay for support. The other things that's really strange is the phantom firmware out there that's supposed to fix the

-R writing. Is it really only for the Japanese version of the 1100A?The only firmware I've tested doesn't recognize the drive.
Oh...I'd almost forget... I burned a data cd compilation with Nero with my old Creative 121032E wich I gave to my girlfriend and by the way I'm missing now... (read "the drive"). This was a black surface Samsung Cd. Well... it can be read in any cd-rom I've tried except th ND-1100A!
Any wise advice and/or help would be great with all this.
