Nero and GCE-8481B

On my GCE-8481B (48x24x48) Nero report the Maximum Burn speed of this drive at 32X but it should be 48X.

Because of P-CAV adjusting burn speeds at specific CD areas, I can understand why 48X would not be a true burn rate.

So is 32X some sort of burn rate average over the entire CD?
Or is nero actually misreporting this drive, and if yes why?
And for some reason - Nero InfoTool won't run either. It quits as soon as I start it.

Thanks in advance if anybody can shed any similar experience with this drive (or similar Nero reporting issued with other burners), etc

Yes - the drive is compatable (device is in the cdrom.cfg file as well) but on the nero web page of supported drive it shows my model number as a 48x24x52(which is not correct).

As for the Intel's Application Accelerator (IAA) theory in the post link you gave - I am running Athlon XP 1800+ So it doesn't apply.
(Nor am I using Via 4in1 drivers).

Thanks anyhow,:)
