Nero and Divx

Hi I have a problem with burning back up movies encoded with the Divx format. When I use Nero (5.5.10.0) it tells me that I can't burn due to licese restrictions and that I need to vist the Nero web site for the Mpeg2 codec.

I have an mpeg codec from nero 5.5.9.14 and that did not work, can anyone tell me if they have had the same problem and how they fixed it. What is the new version of the Nero Mpeg codec and does this allow me to put my backed up movies on to the Nero burning program.

Are you trying to burn as an "CD-ROM (ISO)" or "Super Video CD" compilation? You have to burn as ISO, that is, a standard data cd if you want to backup .AVI DivX files; unless you want to trancode DivX to SVCD.

If you just want to put the AVI onto a CDR as an AVI and not convert it to VCD or SVCD, then just burn as a DATA disk. If you want to convert the AVI to SVCD, then I would suggest not to use Nero as the final quality is really bad. Have a read in the Tutorial section for alternatives.
