Nero 6 turns my PC off!!!!

Hi Guys
My first post, I'm looking for some help, which I can't see anywhere.
I was previously running Nero 5.5 which came bundled with a Plextor DVD burner, I got rid of the Plextor because it was a bag of S$$$te and I bought a NEC ND2500A. However Nero won't recognise the NEC it keeps looking for the Plextor. Is ther anyway I can modify Nero 5.5 to recognise anything else than the bloody Plextor!!
I have downloaded and tried to run Nero 6 ultra, it loads OK but when I come to start the program it just switches my PC off.
Any clues, hits or help on the above would be appreciated before I pull my hair out, and I haven't got that much to pull.

Bundled versions of Nero are normally tied - the tie is in the embedded serial.

The current Nero 6 demo - 6.3.1.6 Expires today (April 30th) if you sourced a less than official version, I suggest you run a good virus checker!

A previous OEM/Bundle does get you the "upgrade" price on Nero 6 - might be worth taking if the next demo version works out for you.

Did you uninstall V5.5 first?

Funnily enough your "bag of S$$$te" Plextor drive (708 I guess) is a tweaked ND2500... so before blaiming something check if it is yourself who's at fault.
If you are still using the "Nero Plextor Edition" which came with the previous burner, then the answer is NO, it won't work with other burners.
Finally, Nero 6 turns your PC off because you have unlocked it with a blacklisted pirated serial... you aren't the first, nor the last one to complain about this issue.
