Im trying to backup my kids dvd's since they tend to gum them up alot! I recently started having issues with Nero 6. Im not getting any type of error message or anything, but what is happening is my session never ends! Normally, it takes about 15 minutes to sucessfully copy one and then Nero will tell me that it has been copied sucessfully. Now what it is doing is it keeps going. Last night I checked on it and it had been almost 2 hours! What I wind up doing is having to restart my system. Here is the funny thing...all the info is on the disc after i reboot! I thought it may have been my system conflicting with something so I used another harddrive, reloaded XP, etc. and it is still doing the same thing. Its wierd, because up until 2 weeks ago everything was working like a champ. Any thoughts? Is there a setting within Nero 6 that I am missing to end my session? Do you think maybe a windows update could be the culprate?? When I reloaded my system last night, I made sure to update all the patches for XP. Im wondering if 2 weeks ago, if my system did an automatic update and its a patch thats causing this mayhem? HELLLP! I use a sony dru 500a burner with Ritek 4x media. Help a brutha out who is down on his luck!
Nero 6 not ending dvd backup process..help!

funny, i'm having a similar problem ... it only seems to happen with 1x princo's and i'm using nero 5.5.10.15 , i was assuming something was wrong with the discs but this doesn't seem logical and it's only happened over the past week, all the data is exactly as it should be but the lead out never ends!!!! weird ...

i realize that nero has caused a few headaches lately but ive burn't a lot of discs with this version and the problems only seem to have started in the last couple of weeks the same as coady ... and no the same problem doesn't occur with record now max .... maybe it's the way somethings written in the toc on the single speed discs co's it doesn't happen when burning 2x or 4x media ..... sad thing is ive got another 100 1x princo's to use and i'll have to reboot everytime!!!! ..... thats life .......
As Screcrow basically said, many many issues with Nero 6 and DVD burning, I went back to 5.5.10.54 and works fantastic as always. The latest is not always the greatest.

Don't know how long you've had your burner, but I just had one do exactly what you say has been happening during the 13th month of a 12 month warranty. It takes 22-24 minutes to get to 100% complete and then just sits there spinning trying to finalize. First it would complete finalizing in 48 minutes, then an hour, then never.
I've used different burning software and gotten the same results. I'm resigned to the fact that the burner has seen it's last days as a dvd burner. I can still burn CD's, but finalizing a dvd is hopeless.
Picked up a firewire external dvd burner because I noticed a lot of heat during the last days of my internal burner. Some of the heat comes from the burner, but you can be sure that the internal heat of the RAM, video card, and hard drives contributes to the slow but inevitable burnout of an internal dvd burner (unless you have a super cooled case).
