Hello.
My first no0b post on this board. =)
Like moste of the known world I used to use Nero for my CD-R burning and like most other oeople I used to like it.
Now...
I installed the 6.0 ISO and was expecting the usual miracles a major upgrade promises, but lo and behold...

I get the following errormess. "Device in use by other aplication" and it simply won't burn.

So to balance up the hype on the latest NERO...
after installing and searing heavily for a time... I wouldn't touch NERO with a ten-foot pole.

If anyone has a solution to the mentioned problem please post it and I just might revaluate nero.

I too used to use it for datadisks POACHER but now use NTI 5.1.17 As it handles long file names in the ROMEO FORMAT :)

I used nero 6 for a short time and my system crashed (not due to nero 6) and i restored off some backupdisks and it restored my previous 5.5.9.0 of nero which i think im gunna stick with as i found nero 6 was sloowwwwww painfully slow even just to change the track gap size from 2 to 0 it just took ages !?

I use nero for MP3 to audio and thats about it but only because ive used nero for so long now (since version 2.x) for audio cds its what im used to using :)

I'm trying out burnatonce 0.98 at the moment and it looks promising.
The interface is not what I'm used to but it seems usable. As always there is a learning threshold and a new gui always take some time to get used to.
It's small and fast...

From what I gather so far, Nero 6 has major incompatibilities with RecordNowMax (possibly any Prassi/Sonic engined burn program?).

Other reports seem to suggest it's more compatible with the burner as Secondary Master, than as Sec Slave.

Have been using both 6.0.0.9 and 6.0.0.11, and can burn DVD data and Videos fine; can burn audio CDs from MP3s; can burn CD-R/RWs fine. Also have burned .img files of DVD movies, .iso and .nrg files of CDs and DVD-data discs.

Had an initial crash, but that was the INCD (just say NO) and the burn engine from another app (not EZCDCremator - again just say NO). Now I have many burning apps running with the XP-SP1 imapi service disabled, and have no problems.

Using 105 and 106 for DVD, Yamaha F1 for CDs, Abit AT7-RAID Max2 m/b, AMD 2200, 1gb Kingston PC3200 RAM, ATI Radeon 9500, Dazzle DVC-2 PCI capture card.

New Name For Nero 6

I think the new name for nero 6 should be Nero Writer Burner 6.

I used to had a Samsung 32x10x32 with nero updated till 5.5.10.42

Then i got the nero 6.0.0.11. After 7 days of Hell my Burner finally died.

Now i have got a Samsung 52x24x52 with the oldie Nero 5.5.10.42

I have not dared to install Nero 6 again.

I dad much the same experiencs as ipdave with Nero6 but I had no crashes. Worked fine, however burning DVD's although you select to have file names up to 31 char long, after the burn they are anly 16 long. 16 is to short for some movie titles, so back to 5.5
