Need some help from a Expert(about converting SVCD to DVD)

I'm really new to this and never tried this before. I've downloaded to Tutorials on how to do this so far and I keep running into problems.

On the first one I was trying to convert a AVI to DVD and I got through all the steps but got stuck on converting sound It was completely different and it uses different programs to the 2nd one.

Now on this one, it's different, I'm trying to convert a Avseq to MPEG and I'm using a program called VCDgear and it gives me a error "could not locate Mpeg Stream"

I'm not sure if anyone would be able to help me. I wish I could talk to someone on MSN or something about it, as I could explain exactly what is happening. And none of my friends are into this tpye of stuff

So if anyone could help me that would be great, thanks.
