Need some help flashing a drive.

I just got and installed a new pioneer dvr-108. I'm trying to flash the drive with the 16x4all_beta1 firmware Using dvr-flash. After entering the the info for the drive in the command line I get "drive not supported by this utility". Is there any other way or app out there to flash this drive. Since it's a new drive maybe there isn't a way yet. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you have it on a normal system IDE, many flash programs cannot handle alternative controllers - though a Raid controller usually has very poor optical drive compatibility anyway, as do many PCI card controllers.

Make sure that you don't mix 108 and A08XL firmware - the A08XL will probably identify as a 108 so that only one entry is needed in software - but if they play it the same way as with the 107, the XL is different internally, unlike most other OEM/Retail drives with only cosmetic differences if any.

YEAHHHHH, That DVRFLASH 2.0 did the job. Thanx Viper and LTR12101B. I have 2 pioneer dvr's and 2 lite-on 52x's on the ide and 2 hdd in raid on a pci card, so the flash worked fine. After I get some zzz's I'll let you guys know if the firmware worked. I got some imation 2x dvdr's laying around somewhere. Thanx again for the help.

You're right about that. I got no results at all. After the flash I tried to burn some 2x discs at 16x and the drive froze after the lead in. I had to revert to the original firmware to get it working again.

I'm either brave or stupid (there's a thin line between the two, lol). I didn't give up and flashed the drive with the newest firmware from pioneer (DVR108_FW110EU). Then re-flashed it with the beta firmware and added the intel application accelerator. After a few reboots (because all 4 drives disappeared from my system) I got it working. Using a RITEKG04 4x I burnt at 4x first, then a try at 12x. Check it out. 7:11 burn time. not bad.

@Blane.The Intel Application Accelerator is known to cause problems with Dvdr hardware.Removing it sometimes helps.Just something to look at. ;) I should add it to the dvd troubleshooting tutorial.

@PC-GUY, I thought that kprobe didn't work with pioneer drives.
@Woody, Yeah my system is messing up a bit. After another burn I'm going to remove it and also go back the the original pioneer firmware.
