Need help

This is my dilemma...

Downloaded scooby-doo...2 cues and 2 bins.
Turns out it is in PAL format and I need NTSC.
I believe the file is also SVCD and i wanted it converted to VCD.
I saw Chickenman's guide on how to convert from SVCD and VCD.
The original mpg was 730 mb.
I did the guide and began re-encoding the file.
When it was done I had only 8 mins of the movie.

I need this to be in NTSC format
and I need it to be VCD format too.

Any ideas on what to do here?????

I would not suggest you convert the PAL to NTSC unless you like really jerky movies. A DVD player that says it can playback VCD will play either PAL or NTSC VCD's without you being aware.

You extracted the MPG file out of the BIN file with Isobuster, not just copied it out? You need to extract it out. The AVSEQ01.MPG in the BIN file is not a true MPG file.

I have never had your problem you quoted nor can I find a reason why its happening unless you didnt extract the mpg file correctly.

I have posted another way of converting SVCD to VCD as an alternative that may be worth a try, its in this post:

Extracted

I did extract the file out with Isobuster...I selected extract with mfm2 filter thing. I thought that is what I am supposed to do.

Strange

Chickenman,
Extracted the AVSEQ01.mpg with Isobuster using the "Extract but filter mfm2 mpg" one. I named it disk1. I went into DVD2AVI and found out it is a PAL 4:3 at 25fps. I then went into TMPgenc and used the PAL template and did what you wrote in your guide for converting svcd to vcd. The weird thing is, is that I end up with the d2v file that is only 8kb and an mpa that is 2 megs. Now disk1 mind you is 730mb. What the hell happened???

I tried encoding it and the whole process only takes 11 mins. Something isn't right and I am following your guide step for step. Any ideas????

Sounds like your file is corrupt.
Try burning the bin cue files.
windvd can play svcd , so test it with that.
If it doesnt play then your file is corrupt.

bin file

I burned them with nero using the cue list that came with them. They play just fine on my Hollywood DVD Station. The only thing is, is that I need to convert it from PAL to NTSC and from SVCD to VCD so my stand alone player can play it. The PAL SVCD works fine on my computer with Hollywood software from Sigma. Any other suggestions.

I dont see why u need to convet pal to ntsc.
As long as your dvd is set to output ntsc then it will play pal just fine.
Which file are u isobusting?
There will be at least 2 mpg files and its the second 1 u want.

DVD player

Dave,
I have a Panasonic RP-56 stand alone player for my HDTV. I have tried playing the discs that I burned with the cue sheets but they are choppy with hints of green it. Very choppy. I don't know what else to do...because I wanted to be able to watch these discs on that Panny so my son and I could watch it...instead of on a 17" monitor in my bedroom. When I extract with isobuster I only get 1 mpg file....not 2.

Scott

The choppyness is probably because u r playing svcd and your dvd player doesnt properly support it.
BTW the d2v file will be small as its just a pointer to the mpg.
How big is your extracted mpg?

file

I know my player doesn't play SVCD...henceforth that is why I am trying to convert it to VCD. My player plays that, but only VCDS in NTSC format. My extracted file along with the d2v file was only 2mbs. That is what is wrong....i thought it was supposed to be like a 100mbs or so. I re-encoded anyway and it only gave me 8 mins of the movie. So I go from a 730mb extracted mpg using ISObuster to an 8 min movie clip. I don't know what I am doing wrong because I am following the guide to a T. I am beginning to feel this is hopeless.

What version of DVD2AVI are you running? It should be 1.76 or the new 1.77.3. Any of the 1.8x series cause all sorts of problems. Let me know the version your running.

DVD2avi

Chickenman,
It is version 1.76 +. I have done this SVCD to VCD guide twice now and keep getting the same results....an 8 min clip of the whole movie. I burned the movie on to two discs with the cue list and they work fine in my computer. They are in PAL format however and my DVD player in my living room does not support PAL discs or SVCD. I was hoping to convert the two so my son can watch it on our HDTV in the living room. Any other insight on what I could do would be great.
