Need help with WINRAR 3.0. Having problems loading files

Hi

Didn't know exactly where to put this question so I put it here.

I have a problem with winrar 3.0.

When I download stuff from the I-Net then mostly I get multiple RAR archives and Winrar has to read them to extract.
So now comes my problem. When I doubleclick the RAR-File it takes pretty long till Winrar comes up and shows what is in there.
My OS is freshly installed latest drivers also and so on. HD is nor fragmented but it takes about 30-40 Seconds till it shows the content of the rar-files.
So is this i setting problem with winrar or a prob with my system or drivers?

I am out of possibilities so I hope someone can give me a clue.

The HDs are set up the following. I have a EPOX 8k3a+ and both HDs are on the HighPoint Controller. The OS is WinXP Pro with SP1

Hope anyone can help.

30-40 Seconds are to much; there are no settings in WinRAR which could cause this;
Do you use WinRAR unregistered still in trial period or perhaps bad cracked?

I am using the WINRAR 3.0 Corp right now but I also tried the download from the website and added the RARREG file to the dir but no difference.

If you use it as well can you maybe send me the one you use via mail (starsheep@gmx.net) and I can try that one out.

Hope someone has more ideas. I recall that I didn't had that prob when I used 2.9.

i'm using the german (unregistered) version 3.0;
if you wish it i can send you this per mail, but you can also download it from _www.rarlabs.com;

i have no ideas more;

Check your memory and harddrive speed. More memory and fast 7200rpm+ harddrive makes compression/decompression faster.

The speed will vary depending on the number of file(s) in .RAR file. IOW, it will take WinRAR longer to check/read 1000 files than 10 files.
