Just purchased the program a couple of days ago and have had no success in fully backing up a dvd. I like the program its very easy to use along with menu edit. The problem is I rip out the extras I dont what and adjust the menus, the process finishes and I get my files. When I try to open them with DVDShrink it gives me an error. It says: Failed to open file. The reason is:The system cannot find the file specified.

I also tried with IC and IC crashes before the process starts. ???

Anyone know what could be the problem :confused: Because I really like the program.

Hi PTR1, Welcome to our forum! :cool:

sorry, i don't have knowledge in DVD backuping; please stay a little bit patient, the experts will surely find and reply your question;

for now i beg for more details; the experts need more details e.g. which parts you junked out; if i remember right, some publishers using weird chapter structures as a sort of "protection scheme";

Greetings and welcome.
IC7 and DVDShrink crashing, say that you took out stuff that you shouldn't have.
Does the finished DVD play on PowerDVD or WinDVD?
Does the crashing happen on one DVD or on all you have tried?
You can always go back, change your removal selections and try to see what item(s) should be left there.
Also, some simple tips that come to mind:
Leave blank screens alone.
D*sn*y cartoon DVDs are usually difficult to master
Leave initial multi Language screens alone (only edit them with Menuedit)
Don't remove (for now) aspect ratio screens (Full screen-Wide Screen, only edit them with Menuedit)

Remember that help cannot be given on copyrighted material.

Hi PTR1 and welcome to the forums :D

sorry to hear about your issues :(. What version of DVDDecrypter & Ifoedit are you using?

Thanks for your replies. Im using the latest version of decrypter and v0.95 of ifo edit. I tried different discs and changed the stuff I took out, always had the same result.

But, I think i fixed it now, I took the original VIDEO_TS.xxx files from the original dvd and copied them to my stripper destination directory and overwrote those files. I then opened the movie in ifo edit and pressed Get VTS Sectors. I then loaded it into dvd shrink and it worked! Any reason why this would happen. :confused:

Now that II tsuccesfully backuped up a dvd I wanna say that the program is great. I highley recomend using it with a registered version of menu edit they work great together and very easy.

thanks

don't use any other version of DVDDecrypter than 3.1.7.0 as other versions may not be supported yet ;)

that's why I ask people use 0.95 Ifoedit and 3.1.7.0 DVDDecrypter as updates may not work with DS :(

p.s. when you say latest do you mean 3.1.8.0 or 3.1.9.0?, not that it matters as I know 3.1.9.0 will defintitely not work with DS as Arianos has just been testing with me and I haven't tested 3.1.8.0 fully but it's probably the same

Hi MackemX, What sort of problems have you encountered with 3.1.8 or 3.1.9? I just installed 3.1.9 today and was going to use it with DS.

Oh, nothing much...except IC7 or DVDShrink will crash and you won't be able to transcode, as PTR1 described in the first post :)
Seriously now:
3.1.8.0 had a problem with DoItFast4U (it didn't start automatically) and so did the DS ripping on some PCs, so LightningUK quickly updated to 3.1.9.0, which, as we found out, has changed the names of the Menu cells, resulting in DS not seeing them. So it's back to 3.1.7.0 for us.
