Need Help [DVD Burner]

Hi, I'm a new member here and I need some help with my new dvd burner.
I just bought a Liteon DVD burner, I don't know the series, it's DVD+R/+RW drive.
1. Whats the difference between +R/+RW, -R/-RW, +-R/+-RW?
2. Why I can't use my burner with other blank DVD, except with the blank dvd that came with the burner. I tried use my burner with 2 difference brand of blank dvds, Princo and Data Bank, but It keep asking to insert the blank CD into the drive. I'm using Sonic (MyDVD and RecordNow DX) software that came with the burner.
3. Why I can't copy a dvd movie? it said the CD is copyrighted. Is there anyway to copy DVD movies?
4. What's a good software to copy dvd movies? Can I use the Sonic software to copy dvd movies?

If anyone could help me, I really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot woody. It helped me a lot.
I've understood the differences between +/-/+- and I've known Sonic software is crap.
but still don't know why my burner can't detect my blank cds. Might be its becoz my cds is incompatible with my burner or there's something wrong with my burner and I need to return it back. :(

Just a question,did you buy Dvd+r blanks ? Dvd-r won't work with that drive.Also both brands of media you mention aren't very good.You need to use the media recommended for your drive.If it burned with the Dvd+r that came with the drive,the drive is okay.

You kinda lost me too..You started to say cdr's are the problem,and then dvdr's are a problem.Which is it,or both? :confused:

Movies are copy protected,you need a ripper to remove the protection first(see tutorial).Check out the tutorial by Laz.It uses freeware,and is easy to follow.

Unfortunately it is never as easy as we would like to think.The movie,and game developers almost always try to protect their software.

OMG, I'm so damn newbie. I bought DVD-R blank DVDs.
No wonder I can't use it with my 401s burner :(

another question should I convert my 401s-411s? will it work fine?

could anyone tell me where can I get eeprom for LTC-48161H?
