Need Help Badly: Access Denied

Maybe one of you guys or gals can help me with this...........
I had to reinstall WinXP Pro and now I can't get into my music folder, It keeps telling me "Access Denied", I search the forums for some help, but the info on it is that everyone is trying to delete the folder. I just want to "open and get my music out of there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...........
TIA

Hi Duracell,
Thanks so much for your reply, it must have taken you some time to make that little show. I really appreciate your effort.
The trouble I'm having now is figuring out where to start with your info. Where do I start? Do I start with the folder in question or is it a system folder that I have start with. As again thanks for everything.

PS I'm a German American, but sad to say I don't know German.

you start in the folder above in the hierarchy of your problematic music folder; then right click on your music folder > Properties

P.S. seems to be long years ago, as your family went over the ocean; :)

Hello once again,

Maybe I'm explaining my problem wrong, when I click on the folder and use properties all I get is "sharing, and customize", also at the bottom is "advanced", it offers no other options.
It (My Music) is the major folder on this hard drive. I think it has something to do in the admin part of the drive, but as you can figure out by now I'm pretty new at this game. If you can take me where I'm suppose to start I would really appreciate it.

Thanks Again Duracell,

PeterDragon

PS... Yes My Great Grandfather came over in the 1800's....

this is the right place; here you should see "Properties";
one important thing is you must log in in Windows as Administrator;

i'm a Win2000 man and don't use "bubble gum XP", but it should be nearly the same; so when you don't see "Properties", try "Advanced" or the other possibilities to get access to the rights managment of your folder;
