Need advise on good Photo Album (VCD/SVCD/DVD)

Heres an idea
use any video editing software i.e. studio 8, you can insert stills into the timeline add transitions title slides wipes etc and audio, you can also add your audio and fade to suit, output to any format

It all depends on what you like to see
You want great transitions: photo2vcd, but if you want to add subtitles, dont use photo2vcd. The abililty to add subs is very very poor. The product is also not stable, and keeps coming about with new versions almost each week.
Magix has done a great job, although the product doesnot have a great interface, and doesnot work intuitive like one should expect. Subtitles here are great, while the transitions are not great. I have bought version 1. Version 2 is out, but have not tried it.
I have tried a lot of other products (not all), and seem to loose the battle
In my oppinion one should be able to add subs, otherwise it goes straight to the recycle bin !
