Hey everyone,

I have a question regarding my new NEC3500A and Win DVD 5. I installed both, and went to play a DVD, but there was nothing. I could navigate through the DVD's menu's but the second I hit play the screen went black with no sound. . It looks like the DVD was playing, because the movie timer was moving. Can some one please help me?

Thanks a lot

Hi AmazingCLK, Welcome to our forum! :cool:

Is it just one particular DVD? Can you try another one? Is it an original, pressed DVD or already a burned copy?

I have tried 4 different original DVD's and had the similar results with all of them. One played only sound, another played only video and the other two did not even play.

The regioncode, as far as I can tell does match.

As far?
i don't know about WinDVD, but in PowerDVD i can request an information window, where the region codes of the drive, player software and inserted DVD are listed;

also you can try this freeware player: VLC media player

The same 4 DVD's worked great with the freeware listed above. So it is clearly some thing with the WinDVD software not communicating properly to the DVD player. Any other thoughts?
