NEC 1100 A doesn't recognize 4 speed anymore

Hello,

I have a NEC 1100 A and use Nero 6.0 with it to burn DVD's
Everything worked fine for about 3 months but since a week Nero
doesn't recognize 4 speed anymore and says that he only burns at 2.4 speed.
Can anyone tell me if i can reset the speed ?
I have already uninstalled Nero and re-installed but no luck.
Also other DVD programms will only burn at 2.4 speed and the Nec does not recognize 4 speed DVD's. (I have tried various DVD's)
The only thing i have done compared to the previous months is running system tool of nero express by mistake. Does that make sense ?
Please help.

Thanks in advance !

Hi Clinton, Welcome to our forum! :)

Also other DVD programms will only burn at 2.4 speed and the Nec does not recognize 4 speed DVD's. (I have tried various DVD's)
for sure this is a media incompatibility; try to udate NEC's firmware to latest release and use a trustable brand like Ritek G04;

Hi there,

I've got the same problem, my Nec 1100a also doesn't recognize 4 speed DVD's anymore. I updated the firmware, now Nero recognizes 4 speed DVD's, but when I try to burn on 4 speed, it failes all the time. Can someone help me?

Problem solved for now

Hi, thanx for your reply!

Due to some problems with my other (Lite-on 812 S, won't copy any PS2 DVD backups anymore, CD and movies are fine) I updated my version of Nero. I now have version 6.3.1.17 and it seems that the problem is gone. I just burned 1 DVD at 4 speed, with no errors.

I wanna thank you for your reply, and I hope my burner keeps on burning on 4 speed.

Still have problems with my NEC, won't burn on 4 speed

Hi,

I thought the problems with my Nec were over, but unfortunately not... I burned one DVD without any problems at 4 speed, but now I'm still having the same problem again.

Nero recognizes it's a 4 speed disc, and it burns fine at 4 speed until it's finished and leading out, then I get several errors (see the log I attached).

Can somebody please help me with this problem?

configuring DVD writers as slave drives isn't recommended;
my recommanditation is: making the NEC master at the secondary IDE channel and the DVD-ROM (JLMS XJ-HD166S) should be the slave at the secondary IDE channel;

Just wanted to add>on the fly with both devices on the same IDE channel is not a good idea either.Duracell has given good advice.Make sure you remove the conflicting software,and change the aspi layer.Nero has some clean.and registry repair tools at their website.Use them after you're done the changes.Good luck.
