Nandub ?

I have had problems with avi's that have been encoded with Nandub.
When I convert them with TMPGenc, I find that the audio seems to be tacked on to the end or very badly out of sync. The only way I have fixed this problem is to re-convert the Nandub file with Virtualdub. Once re-encoded TMPgenc converts the file just fine. I don't believe it's a codec problem cause I've tied them all.

Is there a proggy that can fix the audio prob without me having to re-encode with Virtualdub. I have tried Wombles to no avail...

Good to see you here again mate. You obviously still having Nandub encoded AVI's. Why dont you look at frame serving from Nandub (or VirtualDUB) to TMPGEnc and get best of both worlds.

Have you tried Panasonic Encode, the standalone version? It can convert AVI to VCD and quality is almost as good as TEMPgenc.

O'k I've set up the frame serving from Virtualdub to TMPEGenc. After creating the .vdr file and loading it into TMPEGenc, adjusting the settings and clicking start I get an error message. 'ILLEGAL FLOATING DECIMAL POINT CALCULATION ORDER'. I have used different versions of TMPEGenc with same result. I have also tried it with the ReadAVS.dll installed.
When I clear the .vdr file from the Audio Source setting and only use the video source it runs fine.

With the Panasonic Encoder it gives me an estimated time of about 5 1/2 hours, I can reconvert with Virtualdub and then convert with TMPEGenc (for better quality) in between 4 1/2 and 5 hours.

I'm not complayning or anything, just wondered if there was an easier way of converting Nandub encoded Avi's. I don't know what all the fuss is about Nandub, it may be fine to make DivX movies but it makes it difficult to convert to Mpg.

I under stand your problems, no probs there and yes, Pana Encoder is slow. But always handy when you find that odd AVI that just cant be converted another way. If frame serving from Nandub with the Video only to TMPGEnc works for you, then I would suggest the following.

Load AVI into Nandub, in Audio set to Full processing mode then in File, hit Save WAV (this only take a few min) Start frame serve to TMPGEnc 5.02 and load *.vdr as Video only and the WAV as Audio source. Set up TMPGEnc settings and encode. Come back in 4 hrs.

Use Nero

jonnijon:If u want a pixelatted pile of cr*p!
Nero is great for burning vcds , but its encoding engine is total garbage.
Tmpgenc is god!(for now)!

BTW welcome to the forum!:D

NERO is the pitts for encoding PERIOD!!!!
Perhaps your vision of what is good quality is just out of lack of using other software jonnijon.
Almost EVERYONE knows nero is the pitts for that (almost 'cause you don't lol).
Seriously though, nero can't compete with any other software for encoding (will never beat tmpgenc).
Good for burning VCDs, but not encoding them.
