Name me a handful of good DVD apps

I just recently got myself a DVD-burner. Until now I have used Nero. I would like to know if there is any general consensus on good burning apps/stuff to avoid etc. for DVDs? In the good old CDR days I got the feeling that such a consensus existed (Nero, CloneCD, Feurio, BlindWrite...).

DVD DECRYPTER

DVD SHRINK

BURNATONCE if you dont have a pioneer then use NERO :)

finally use this GUIDE here

by LAZ one of our admin here its very good too :)

and its all freeware well apart from nero but most people have nero at some point or get it bundled with their burners :)

Thanks. Nice guide! I already have Nero, and just downloaded DVD Decrypter. The-poacher - is there any special reason for using Recordnow? Is it in any way better than Nero?

Nero works for many as VIPER pointed out comes with many burners these days. I have managed to backup dvd with it the few times..yes few time that I have used it v6320...But still I'm with The_poacher on the app he uses plus DVD Decrypter.Coming back to recordnow max I still use v4.5 and have never used any of the new version due to the fact I'm happy using this one it does what I want and by report over the web many that have used newer version tend to come back to v4.5 for what ever reason....Before you go out spending more more try the freeware apps, in dvdshrink you can backup your dvd in iso mode and burn in Nero. :)

@ cfp999,

There are two combinations I use that are simple to use and produce outstanding results when backing up my DVD's.

DVD Decrypter/DVD2one/CopyToDVD

AnyDVD/CloneDVD (Elby)

I believe the combination of AnyDVD/CloneDVD is a little simpler to use than the DVD Decrypter/DVD2one/CopyToDVD combination.

A couple of other notable products are DVD Info Pro, Goland Tech's Audio DVD Creator, and TMPGEnc DVD Author.

There are numerous DVD media floating around that are of dubious quality. To elevate problems only use quality media similar to Ritek or Taiyo Yuden.

Coaster

oh yeah thanks for the reminder on RECORD NOW MAX poacher :)

@cfp999 i also use RECORD NOW MAX for data dvd compilation :)

Which version of RecordNow are you guys using? Tried Sonic 7.0 and IMO the UI is a little weird. Heard about an older version (maybe 4.5), but I imagine it lack support for newer hardware features.

RNM v4.5 works fine with the Pioneer 7 series and Sony 700 DVD burners.... ;)

If you have the latest version of Nero 6 Ultra and DVDDecrpter you can do just about anything, author, remake/shrink etc.

Some have reported conflicts when RecordNow and Nero are both installed. Depending on your system/config one might work better than the other, but Nero is a much more comprehensive program.
