My DVD/CD-RW drive all of a sudden started ripping at half its normal speed??!

Hello.
I've spent the last 4 hours reading through posts and searching the many threads on this forum, but haven't been able to find a solution.

I have a Samsung SM-352B DVD/CDRW combo drive installed on my
PIII 866, and I do all of my ripping on it. (I then transfer over my network to my other computer for burning.)
I usually get 2.2mb/s during the "deep analyzing" part using DVD-Shrink 3.0.
And for some reason, I now only get 1.1mb/s. The encoding time is also greatly slowed.

Here's what I've tried so far with no success:
1) made sure that DMA is checked for both the hard drives
2) removed the drive from Device Manger and reinstalled it
3) installed latest firmware from Samsung

Does anyone have any idea why my drive would all of a sudden start
working so slowly? Any suggestions or have any links to pages that might be of interest for me?

Thanks for your help!

Plus whatever you think may help..
Must take you a long while to end up with the final finished burnt disc with the way you have it set up over 2 PCs networked..

1.1m/sec means 70 mins or more for ripping one DVD, which is slow indeed... I suspect that the change was due to "something" you have installed, and disturbed your ASPI layer.
