my DRU-500a will read but not burn dvd

i recently purchased a dru-500 and it will read DVD's Read and wriye CD's but will not burn DVD's(movie or data) I've several different burning programs but no joy. any ideas?
please help!

The software that came with the drive (RecordNowDX) works perfectly well if you have not messed your system with a lot of device drivers.
