music software

I would like to copy my records and tapes to CD. Can anyone recommend software that will do this. I have a very basic level of knowledge so need something without a huge learning curve!

Thanks

you can try Steinbeg Clean it's @ version 4 now but even v2 will do you or Wavelab le both from the same camp.:D Cool edit is another to look out for but best bet is the Clean.:)

First question, do they need:

1. Direct transcription, no cleanup/repair
2. Some noise reduction
3. Major repair

In the first case, there is a lot of software to buy or free

The noise profile/reduce function in Exact Audio Copy can target constant noise - eg. tape hiss, record surface noise - and probably hum as well. EAC cannot do anything for record scratches - compared to digitalt pops fron a CD misread, they just aren't sharp enought for it to find - similarly, no auto track splitting (cuesheet) as the gaps are not quiet enough - though you can manually place the track points.

It really depends on your needs- related products begin from freeware VST plugins which you can use on wave editors like Audacity up to the top of the iceberg which has to be Waves Restoration Bundle for slightly more than $ 1,199.
Like Rastabt said, Steinberg Clean! is certainly not the best tool, but probably one of the easiest to use- and it's not expensive at all, either.
