MPG to DVD

Ok i'm a novice at this. I have a few mpg movie files over 400MB each and i want to put as many as i can on DVD and be able to play them on normal dvd player. I tried using nero vison express but it is telling me i can only put put 2 files on DVD otherwise it goes over space required.

Can someone explain what i need to do or what software i need to use

Thanks

I did look at that and have not really understood it. Lets see if i can get this right.

Ok i've tried using pinnacle studio. I created a menu and added the 3 400mb files and then started rendering which looked like it was going to take a long time as it happened i canceled it after over 24 hours and it still had not finished.

If i use tmpenc for the 3 files it will put them encoded/rendered to a folder of my choice. If i then use pinncale studio to add the menus it should go straight to dvd to write rather than taking hours for pinnacle to encode the files itself.

Have i got this right?

Chris

Yes, if you use TMPGEnc to create DVD compliant files then there is no reason why pinnacle would need to re-encode.

Make sure that they are all the same format though, i.e. NTSC or PAL.

I've used tmpenc and it changed it from a 400mb mpg file to a 1gb mpg file. I've put it into pinnacle and and it still going to take a long time to make it into dvd with menus.

What has tmpenc done except for increasing the size of the file.

Ok what package do i need to use to make these files into a watchable dvd with menus?

I beleive that what every i use needs to make these files into vob files?

Thanks

Frustated novice.

@ CJR13,

I believe you need to look a little bit closer at the capabilities of TMPGEnc DVD Author v1.5.11.37 because it will do everything that you want to do with your MPEG2 files. It will convert to your MPEG2 files to a complaint DVD, create menus, and when you are finished authoring your DVD will even burn it to a DVD ±R or ±RW.

There is no reason to do anything with your TMPGEnc DVD Author v1.5.11.37 created files in Pinnacle. If your DVD files created by TMPGEnc DVD Author v1.5.11.37 are larger than 4.3GB size you need to use DVD2one to “compress” to 4.3GB size and then use TMPGEnc DVD Author v1.5.11.3 to burn to DVD ±R or ±RW.

Coaster
