mpeg to vcd problem

i have tried in vain to create a vcd with an mpg that i downloaded
i have tried nero, vcd gear and easy cd creator, all of which create a cd image but all are corrupt and will not load onto deamon cd drive.

could it be possible that the mpg is protected somehow?

i have even extracted the data from one of the images that i have made but it doesn`t play.

is there any thing that i am overlooking?

i have made several vcd`s before using nero all of which went ok but not with this particular mpeg

thanks for your help

Is it a vcd mpeg or a svcd mpeg or something else?
Does it play in windows media player when you open it?
Have u tried to play it with powerdvd/windvd?
When u load it into nero is there a message pops up?
If the file doesnt work before u burn it then its probably corrupted or not really an mpg file.:)

the mpg file plays fine in all my media players
but when i try to convert into standard vcd image it ends up corrupted

when i load into nero it checks and processes the mpg file and then proceeds to write to the virtual drive as you would expect
but when i try to mount the image on deamon it says that is not a valid image

when i try to burn the image it doesn`t play in my media players

when i extract the media files with isobuster it doesn`t play at all

i have tried vcd gear and easy cd creator to create the image of the vcd but all with same outcome

so i come here for help

anyone?

Just burn it with nero.New vcd.
Just un tick cdi, make sure compliant cd is ticked.
In iso just tick iso level2 and iso9660 and burn.(disc at once 4x to be safe or whatever).
U need to know whether its pal or ntsc as well and check the appropriate box.
If it loads into nero use it.
Burning vcds is what nero is good at.

If Nero says it needs encoding to make it compatible, use dvd2avi and tempgenc as per chicken mans tuts in the movies section.

i have tried again with nero with the settings you suggested but still no good
i can only import the mpeg into nero via the wizard bcus if i try to open the new compilation page and select vcd it will only let me open a file with .nr* extension and the file i want is .mpg

i dont know if this really matters though the fact remains when i have an image from nero deamon tools says it is not valid

btw im currently re encoding it with tmgenc to see if it makes any difference

If u Click on new and select vcd u dont import anything.
Just drag the mpg file into the compilation and thats it.

New/vcd not iso.

What version of nero r u using?

Download Bitrate Viewer from _http://www.tecoltd.com/bitratev.htm and load in your *.mpg file and report back its findings.
