mpeg errors please help

Hello one and all

Hope someone can help me...

I have a film on vcd (2discs) disc 1 works fine for about 5mins then freezes and locks up.....if when starting the move i move the slider on the mpeg player past the first 5 mins the rest of the film plays fine it's just this error is a pain the back side...

if i try to copy the film with clonecd i get 4 errors at the begining of the disc....i have tryed to rip the .dat file from the cd with vcdgear and this just sticks at the same point...are there any other methods worth trying??????i have also tryed to copy the cd into a clonecd file then using winiso5.3 to extract the dat file and repairing it with the "fix mpeg errors" option in vcdgear and this also locks up.

try using ISObuster to extract it (sometimes better than vcdgear).
after converting it back to mpeg, try editing it by cutting out that section.
Probs not a great help, but sometimes you just get a bad VCD like this & you can only exchange it for another or scrap it.
(happened to me once & best I could do is just cut that scene out (2 seconds worth).

I would make a CloneCD image and then use Isobuster (_www.isobuster.com) to extract the mpg file out of the DAT file (right click DAT file and "extract but filter only M2F2 mpeg frames") Then use the Edit&Cut section of TMPGenc to cut out the bad section.

Nothing will/can repair it, either burn out new mpg to a VCD with Nero and put up with the few glitches (should no longer hang though) or cut out the problem and miss a few seconds/minutes of the movie.
