mpeg error

i recently downloaded an mpeg file from kazaa, but i can't open it with any programs; i tried window media player, zoomplayer, tmpgenc; it says the prog. generated error; it seems pretty hopeless for this file but i wonder what else i can do to retrieve it ; is there such a program like divfix for divx files ?

oh my bad; i forgot; i didnt get it from kazaa, but i got it from a pubstro instead; it was typical movie setup, the files were winrarred, etc.. and they extracted to mpeg fine, and that's where the fine stops

No there isnt a file like mpegfix unfortunately. But what you have downloaded may be a SVCD mpeg. I would suggest installing WinDVD 4 (do a forum search for it) and try playing it. If it cant play it then the file maybe corrupt.

If it is corrupt, I would try De-muxing in TMPGEnc and the re-muxing back together again with TMPGEnc or Wombles mpeg2vcr (again a search on the forum will find this for you) That can fix many mpeg problems.
