MP3 cropping

Guys

Please can someone tell me how to "crop" an mp3 that is 1h22m long into 80 mins? We only get 700MB or 80min CDR's in this country so I don't have the luxury of 90mins.

I need some software that will enable me to kind of re-record the mp3 and stop it after 79 mins or so. Any suggestions?

You can use mp3 direct cut///////But you can overburn easy that much..just put slower speed and use 80 min disc

MP3 Cropping

Just tried using CD Mate and a Verbatim 700MB CDR and it died at about 67%. I was burning at 4x.

Perhaps I should clarify ... I'm trying to burn a 1h22m mp3 onto an 80min CDR as CD audio (not as an mp3 file).

First convert mp3 to cd--unless you got very fast pc........And burn audio-cd in a good proggy which can overburn..Cant be simpler :)

Thanks zver

I've got Blindwrite, Nero, CD Mate and Fireburner. Which prog do you recommend? Probably none of the above ... lol.

67% of 82mins is only 55mins, there is no reason why the burn should have failed there. If it failed due to overburning then you would expect it at around 98%.

If you use something like Feurio then you should be able to tell it to just burn the first 80mins, without the need to cut the file.

BlindWrite, Nero or CDMate would all be fine I guess. Can FireBurner even do audio CD's though?

You could also try BurnAtOnce.

The classic "mainstream overburner" is Nero. Guides in several places (try SEARCH!).

Check your CD-R first with Nero CDspeed overburn test - i'tll simulatat a write up to the length you tell it (make longer than you need) and tell you where it falls off the end.

I wish you luck in shooting for 82 min on 80 min media - from my own results, you'll be luckt to get there (and you need SOME leadout left) and the last bit can be poor.

http://cdmediaworld.com/hardware/cdrom/cd_cdr_info_fs.shtml#CD-R Media List - Sorted by CD-R Capacity
This list is rather dated - heavy on 74 and rather light on 80 - but you really want media that can make 83 min or above on the test - if you just scrape 82, you'll have practically no leadout - and while an overburn-capable recorder can handle unexpected runoff, some players can be damaged

You can have a fairly good measurement of your actual disk capacity by Exact Audio Copy, or Feurio, or Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD.
The best overburner out there is of course Padus Discjuggler: a safe 60 seconds plus time over any other burning application by using the "30 seconds RAW lead-out" trick, instead of the 90 seconds leadout that exists in the specs. The CD's burned that way do not comply to the book specs, but nevertheless they can play back anywhere- or almost anywhere.
