moto racer 3 and tages

ok........Ive read ll over the net that people have made working backups of discs with tages protection by reading the disc front to back.then back o front and comparing the images. The only thing is, no one has said how. How do you read a disc back to front? Is there any way to to make a working backup with tages? Thnx in advance

In the Alcohol support forums, a Tages patcher is mentioned, but the site with instructions and download is gone.

Not quite sure if it was referring to something which could patch the CD image, or to breaking the protection with a "no CD crack" (and that's skating on thin ice with the forum rules) - no CD cracks DO have a legitimate use, for people who do not wish to load the CD every time, just for some eyecandy video interludes.

an additional here is that ANY FORM of modifying the games original source code is DEEMED as CRACKING the games code so for anyone to comment on it here would be INDEED breach of forum rules here as correctly stated by LTR12101B :)

My recollection of what the tages patcher did was to modify the image by inserting twinsectors (similar to the way twinpeak does with securom 4.8x) but without modifying the program and so it wasn't illegal.

Methods by which a tages protected cd can be copied successfully are known well enough to the programmers of the various duping apps (alcohol, clonecd, blindwrite, cd-mate, gamejack) but they have never bothered to incorporate those methods into their programs because of the limited application.

AFAIK, only the European release of of MotoRacer 3 (US release uses safedisc) and one other recently released game have ever used tages.

Wrong, not accurate, ...
An example?

All versions of MR3 were protected with TAGES, worldwide.
This assertion is easy to check...

And, assuming that you're correct, your point is ... ?

[Incidentally, for those interested, the other tages protected game is the recently released Robocop.]

Nope, PoP:SoT is safedisc 3.15 which although very difficult to copy successfully isn't impossible (need a bit of luck if you don't use some form of emulation or have a Lite-on dvd to run the back-up though).
