More Pioneer A05 troubles

Hi guys again. I have another problem posted at: http://www.cdrbase.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27342
but this one relates to DVD-RW.
My Pioneer will not format DVD-RW discs. I'm using Drive Letter Access (DLA). When I try and full format a disc it gives me an error after about 30 seconds saying "Format failed due to general failure". It occurs on both Pioneer 2x I have. Thinking I might have some bad media I bought a Imation DVD-RW disk and get the same result. DVD-R format ok.
I've also tried to do a full erase via both Nero and Record Now DX and tried to Reformat without success.

With this problem combined with my other problem at: http://www.cdrbase.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27342 do you think I have a problem drive, considering only a few days ago it was working ok.

Initally DLA along with everything was working fine. DLA still works fine for CD-RW's and DVD-R but only now not DVD-RW.

Well, I tried the pioneer in a friends machine with the same results. So it's being sent back under warranty.
I replaced it with a Sony DRU-500A and it's working perfectly. It even recovered my DVD-RWs I thought I'd destroyed.
Fortunately Sony uses DLA also so I can continue reading my media created with the Pioneer.
